SUNDAY trading has been officially declared open across Fremantle (except North Fremantle) with much of the port city municipality now a designated tourist area. Previously, only the CBD was a designated shopping area.

FREMANTLE is set to get sweeping new trading hours with commerce minister Troy Buswell agreeing to make all but North Fremantle a tourism precinct. If parliament agrees, big retailers across the port city will soon be able to join their CBD competitors and open till 9pm weekdays and 5pm weekends. But they can’t open Sundays till 11am.
Entire Fremantle area faces longer shopping hours
The entire City of Fremantle – not just its core – would get extended trading hours under plans backed by Mayor Brad Pettit.
The City has been discussing with the WA Government a bid to extend Sunday and weeknight shopping from central Fremantle into the suburbs of South Fremantle, O’Connor, North Fremantle, Beaconsfield, Hilton, Samson and White Gum Valley.
