THE Fremantle Masters’ Games has been quietly euthanised by Fremantle’s Generation-X council, with no budget for the event appearing in the 2010/2011 Budget. The biennial competition has for a decade offered a chance for over-50s to compete in a diverse range of events from swimming to athletics to dance.

LibNats dilute anti-dog cafe rules

JANDAKOT Liberal MP Joe Francis says the LibNats have found a way to stop over-zealous councils banning dogs from cafe alfresco areas. He says WA health minister Kim Hames will tell councils not to enforce those sections of the Food Act in relation to dogs in cafes unless there is a clear hygiene risk.

FREMANTLE’S West End will be bursting this Sunday, October 17, as thousands of Catholic faithful and their friends flock to Notre Dame University for the Mary MacKillop Festival at 1pm. At 3:30pm the university lecture halls will show a direct telecast of the canonisation of Australia’s first saint by Pope Benedict XVI, live from St Peter’s, Rome.
