THE Greens want the Gillard government to stop planned oil exploration off Rottnest, saying a spill would devastate the coast and marine environment. Greens senator Rachel Siewert says the possibility of an oil rig off Rotto would fill many with dread.

NSW Labor MP Janelle Saffin is set to move a motion opposing the trade, with the support of Ms Parke and Tassie rural MP Dick Adams.

DOGS dressed as sheep and placard-waving protestors were at state parliament this week with a 5000-signature petition demanding an end to the live animal trade. Fremantle council recently voted to promote phasing out the trade.
