A POLICY to guarantee that Fremantle council staff receive fair pay and conditions was deferred at this week’s council meeting. The Australian Services Union has been negotiating a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement for four months with council executives.

Fremantle council appointed members to a South Terrace Improvement working group this week charged with look at ways to revitalise the city’s famous cafe strip. Mayor Brad Pettitt says the strip isn’t working properly – despite millions being spent on it over the years with various expensive and disruptive facelifts.
